The social classes in Adez were based on those of other
regions. The men were superior to everyone, like women, children, and slaves,
no matter how rich or poor they were. They could vote, join the military, and
partake in the various jobs available. Women followed the men, and were also
not ranked by wealth, and mainly stayed at home, watching over the children and
doing everyday chores in their homes. Children came next; they didn’t own many
rights until they came of age at sixteen. Slaves, obviously, were ranked lowest
of all. Other than the necessities, slaves had zero rights, and were a
substantial labor force in Adez. Adez had a well-defined social class with
reasonable rankings.
